Description
Jim Barry and Jianxia Song describe how to move Map Objects applications to ArcGIS Engine.
Session Description:
This session is for developers who are interested in migrating their existing MapObjects Windows applications to ArcGIS Engine applications. It is well known that developers have been successful in building applications with MapObjects, but for those developers looking to the future, ArcGIS Engine provides an all-around better solution. ArcGIS Engine provides a much richer functionality that extends from 3D display to geoprocessing and allows you to integrate much more closely with the entire suite of ArcGIS products including ArcGIS Desktop and ArcSDE. ArcGIS Engine also provides a number of software components that simplify the development and deployment process significantly. This session will look at the functionality and architecture of both products, then use a real-world development scenario to outline the items you need to consider to successfully migrate your MapObjects application to an ArcGIS Engine application.
This session was presented at the 2006 Developer Summit.
